Beginning as a humble vendor at the San Diego Swap Meet in the early 1990's, the founders of Game Empire developed a loyal following for their extensive knowledge of game rules and merchandise. Loyal customers were even "treated" to weekend tournaments and teaching sessions which packed a local garage and no doubt made a small fortune for the nearby pizza delivery.

Dedicated to the belief that that gaming is a serious hobby that is best served by a professional business, we mapped out our first retail store which opened in 1994. With an attached 2000 sq ft. game room for tournaments and events, our original Mission Valley location offered players a chance to meet friends in an environment with knowledgeable staff and excellent playing facilities for events. Our goals were two-fold: bring together an amazing product selection that included specialty chess, backgammon, and mahjong, jigsaw puzzles of all kinds, independent board games, casino supplies, and the top selection of hobby products in town, and then not only sell the products but offer to teach people how to play! Customers can choose to join our ongoing leagues and tournaments, or simply indulge in our wall to wall selection of products from party to strategy to family games all in one place.

Our biggest success has been catering to the serious hobby customer's interest in a variety of strategy wargames, for which we provide custom built model terrain pieces and miniature painting tips. In addition, trading card game players appreciate our collection of single cards, and an in-store computer gaming network offers customers a chance to play some of the top PC games. We also offer "Rogue Trader" tournaments for Games Workshop fans and have sponsored players who attended the Magic the Gathering World Championships.

One week to the day of our eight year anniversary we relocated our business to a larger location in the more residential area of Clairemont, in Central San Diego. Since our start up we have continued to hold some of the largest gaming tournaments in San Diego and offer some of the most knowledge staff and top equipment for your needs.
